Your Parish Council is a local authority that makes some decisions on behalf of the people in the Parish. It is the tier of government closest to the community and is often the first place people will go with concerns or ideas about the village.
The Parish Council is responsible for the upkeep of some of the public green spaces around the village.
We organise community events throughout the year and have various resident groups who take ownership for working with the wider community to make our parish a place we are proud to call home.

Having recently become chair of the Parish Council I find the role quite engaging. I find that I am really enjoying working as part of a team focussed on helping to maintain and develop the village. I also look forward to getting to know more people in the village to understand the views of as many villagers as possible.

My wife Sandra tragically passed away last December. I have been a primary school governor for 10 years and wanted a change and something that would keep me occupied. I decided to put myself forward as a Parish Councillor to give back to the community of which I am part, a community which has supported me and my family so well ever since we have lived here, more particularly in recent times.

Both now in their 40s, they regularly return with the grandchildren to enjoy the delights of the village. As a child, I moved house regularly, so it is particularly important to me to be part of a thriving community. This is why, apart from being a Parish Councillor, I am also a member of the Village Hall Committee, The Village Book Group, and The Kate Greenaway Action Group. I also help out at the weekly coffee mornings / luncheons and other events whenever I can.
Outside of the village, I am chair of The Westgate Group, which was set up around 45 years ago to support the families of learning-disabled children (now adults) in and around Southwell. I am also a Trustee and volunteer for Reach LD, our local group for adults with learning disabilities. In between all these interests, I do a Pilates class three times a week and regularly walk with friends. You may also have seen me with Arne out and about on our
I have lived in Rolleston for over 40 yrs in 2 houses with Tom. Our 3 children were born here and now regularly return with our 7 grandchildren . They are keen users of the play park and regular visitors to Pooh stick bridge and latterly to use the goal posts in the Kate Greenaway Garden.
We have held a number of significant family events

We have held a number of significant family events in the Village Hall, with the support of Claire Foster and Helen.
Before privatisation, I worked for the Probation Service in Nottinghamshire. I have continued to work chairing Safe Guarding Adult Boards. I have had links as a Trustee with Framework and Homestart for many years. 6 years ago, with Rolleston friends, we established the charity, “Support for Refugees” (East Midlands).

As Rolleston Parish Clerk it is my role to administer all of Rolleston Parish Council's operational and financial matters efficiently and effectively. I ensure that Rolleston Parish Council conducts all its business properly and I inform the community about all the activities and any issues affecting the Parish.
Working with 3 local parish councils and liaising with other parish councils in the area, means that I am ideally placed to ensure that, whenever relevant, all the councils can work together to provide the best possible outcomes for local parishioners.
This is a role I enjoy very much and I look forward to continuing to work with the Rolleston Councillors as they continue to provide an excellent service to Rolleston.
